Bitcoin slid to $79,801 (−0.65% over 24 hours) and total crypto market capitalization dropped to $2.668 trillion, down 3.09% on the day. It was a session in which 146 of the 198 largest tokens closed in the red.
The number that tells the story best: of the top 198 assets by market cap, only 52 are trading higher. Among names above $1 billion in capitalization the ratio is worse — 15 out of 73. This is not panic. It is that moment in the movie when everyone realizes the monster is behind the door, but nobody has screamed or run yet. Just a quiet drift toward the exit.
Macro picture: dominance rises while prices fall
Bitcoin dominance climbed to 60.01%, with ETH dominance at 10.57%. Total 24-hour volume sits at $66.03 billion, above the recent weekly average — trading is happening, mostly in the direction of the door. BTC ranged between $79,416 and $80,680, a band of roughly 1.5%. The daily candle looks like a film shot in a single take: no drama, no twist, just an even slide downhill.
Bitcoin trades 36.7% below its all-time high of $126,080. For a market used to reading charts on a logarithmic scale that is “just a correction,” but for anyone who bought the top it is a year’s salary evaporating in silence. Circulating supply stands at 20.104 million coins against 20.104 million total — effectively identical figures, because issuance is locked by mining mathematics, not by committee.
Ether at $2,313: half the way to nothing, or to everything
Ether fell to $2,313.02 (−0.78%), with a seven-day decline of 2.85%. Market cap is $282.6 billion on $8.78 billion of volume. The token sits 53.2% below its all-time high of $4,946.05. For the second-largest crypto asset that is an awkward position: too large to ignore, too damaged to rally without sellers appearing. Like a tennis player with the best serve on tour who keeps losing the tie-break.
The daily range ran from $2,294.84 to $2,338.49. The lower edge matters — $2,294 has already been tested and defended earlier this month. A break there opens the psychological $2,200 level, where the market broke down in September.
Solana at a hundred: the round number as match point
Solana sits at $100.05 (−1.54%, −3.78% on the week) with a $59.0 billion market cap. A hundred dollars means nothing fundamentally and everything psychologically — the tennis player serving for the match who suddenly cannot find a first serve. Circulating supply is 589.9 million SOL out of 636.5 million total, and the token is 65.9% below its $293.31 all-time high.
XRP was one of the few large caps to survive the day green: $1.30 (+0.68%) on an $82.5 billion market cap. BNB held $739.27 (−0.40%) and its $97.2 billion valuation still makes it the fourth-largest non-stable asset. Dogecoin was flat to the decimal, $0.077164 (−0.03%), and 89.5% below its $0.731578 peak. Cardano traded at $0.203196 (−0.85%), 93.4% under its high. Chainlink at $11.32 (−1.32%, −4.77% weekly).
Privacy narrative: ZEC is now bigger than DOGE and ADA combined
The most interesting story of the day is not Bitcoin — it is Zcash. The token trades at $1,249.19 (+1.87% in 24 hours, +10.91% over seven days) with a $21.2 billion market cap and $751 million in daily volume. For scale: Dogecoin holds $12.1 billion and Cardano $7.6 billion. Zcash is larger than both combined.
A year ago that sentence would have been a punchline. Today it is a balance sheet. The privacy narrative is behaving like the T-800 in “Terminator 2” — everyone assumed it was finished, and it keeps walking through the wall. Monero holds pace at $593.22 (+0.58%) with an $11.2 billion market cap, though it is down 3.48% on the week. Zcash circulating supply is 17.01 million out of 17.01 million total, and the token remains 60.9% below its $3,191.93 all-time high. The rally is happening with price still far from the peak, which is the classic signature of narrative rotation rather than speculative euphoria.
Where the money found ground: Morpho, Hyperliquid, Dash
Morpho is the strongest name among serious projects: $2.17, up 6.77% on the day, roughly $1.5 billion in market cap and 703 million tokens circulating of one billion total. The DeFi credit sector clearly has buyers who are not staring at the Bitcoin chart. Hyperliquid trades at $77.86 (+0.80%) with a $17.3 billion market cap and sits only 20.5% below its $97.96 all-time high — in this tape, almost an athletic achievement. Circulation is 222.4 million of 955.3 million total, so a significant unlock calendar is still ahead.
Dash printed $54.80 (+4.68%), its best session in weeks — the retiree climbing back into the ring, slow but still able to land a punch. ETHFI reached $0.655759 (+3.42%) and VVV $25.51 (+3.86%). The RWA corner keeps its figure: Figure Heloc holds $1.036 with a $26.5 billion market cap and a five-day gain of 1.48%.
Losers: Quant, Pyth, and Polkadot below a dollar
Quant is the weakest large name: $201.95, −6.42%, with a daily range of $196.91 to $223.33 — nearly 12% of intraday spread. Market cap is about $2.9 billion, circulation 14.56 million of 14.61 million tokens, and the token is 52.8% below its $427.42 all-time high. When an asset named “Quant” drops 6% on a day the market drops 3%, the message is plain: quantitative logic does not beat liquidity.
Pyth traded at $0.072213 (−4.86%), Polkadot at $0.98438 (−3.88%) — below a dollar, the level it once treated as alpha and omega of its own thesis. JST at $0.136448 (−3.88%), Render at $1.66 (−3.67%), LIT at $2.99 (−3.56%), Aave at $131.27 (−3.24%), LayerZero at $1.65 (−2.80%). No structural collapse here, just the unpleasant feeling of a whole room standing up and walking toward the door without explaining why.
Stablecoins: an audience that bought tickets but will not enter the ring
Stablecoin capitalization across the top 200 stands at $276.1 billion, with USDT at $182.2 billion and USDC at $71.0 billion. USDT’s daily volume is $43.59 billion — more than Bitcoin’s $26.76 billion. That is the cleanest sentiment gauge available: the money is present, parked, waiting. Nobody is leaving the market; nobody is entering either. An audience that paid for ringside seats and stayed in the hallway after hearing the opponent is bigger than the poster suggested.
What the next 24 hours will be judged on
Three levels set direction. First: $79,400 on Bitcoin, today’s low. Second: $2,294 on Ether. Third: Bitcoin dominance at 60% — a push above 61% means capital is consolidating into the safest corner and altcoins lose fuel. If dominance slips below 59.5% while prices rise, that is the first signal of rotation into risk.
Volume is above average, which is good news for anyone looking for an exit and bad news for anyone looking for an entry. The market is not falling fast enough to trigger panic, but it is falling consistently enough to exhaust patience. Those tapes rarely end with a bang; they end with a slow leak, and then one day, without warning, they turn.
