Loopring (LRC) crashed 18% in 24 hours, becoming the biggest loser of the day. The former Layer 2 hero from 2021 continues its stubborn decline – from an ATH of $3.75 to today’s $0.013, the road has been long and painful. LRC’s market cap of $16.7 million suggests investors no longer buy the zkRollup narrative Loopring once sold.
NKN (NKN) isn’t far behind with a 16.9% drop. The once-promising peer-to-peer network protocol now looks like it’s lost all momentum – a price of $0.0087 and an MCap of $7 million speak for themselves. HOME (HOME) with a 13.7% decline and RE (RE) at -11.9% round out the top four.
DODO (DODO) fell 10.7%, while B3 (Base) lost 10.5%. Moonbirds (BIRB) at 10.3% continues the NFT token tradition of failing to justify the hype – from an ATH of $0.48 to $0.056, an 88% collapse looks like an epic disaster. Bonk (BONK) dropped 9.7%, which is particularly painful given BONK was the darling of the Solana community.
FUNToken (FUN) lost 9.6%, and 0G (0G) shed 8.6%. Notably, 0G has an ATH of $7.05, and its current price of $0.17 represents a 97.6% decline – hard to imagine a more severe collapse for an AI-focused project.
What connects most of today’s losers are low volumes. Loopring has $16.7 million in volume against a $16.7 million MCap – a 1:1 ratio that’s extremely concerning for any serious token. NKN barely crosses $8 million in volume. The only exception is RE with $57.8 million in volume against a $63 million MCap – someone is actively selling or attempting to manipulate the price.
From a broader perspective, today’s losers come from different sectors – Layer 2 (LRC), infrastructure (NKN), gaming tokens (HOME), NFTs (BIRB), meme coins (BONK). This isn’t a sector-wide decline but general apathy toward smaller altcoins. While Bitcoin and Ethereum post modest gains, capital is fleeing high-risk positions.
The biggest lesson of the day: out of the 10 worst-performing tokens, six fell more than 10%. The average decline of the top 10 losers stands at 12.5% – a rarely seen concentration of poor performance. When the market turns, small tokens are the first to bleed.
