Bitcoin climbed 1.8% in the past 24 hours to $81,224, hauling itself off the $80,029 shelf where the week threatened to turn into a one-way street. Total crypto market capitalization sits at $2.72 trillion on $63.17 billion of daily volume — a number that says the market is not dead, merely twitchy.
The Fear and Greed Index recovered to 51, back in neutral territory after reading 48 a day earlier. Translation: nobody is sprinting for the exit, and nobody is dancing on the tables either. The market behaves like a commuter at a bus terminal on a Friday afternoon — everyone checks the clock, no one buys a ticket.
The seven-day scorecard
The weekly picture is not pretty. Bitcoin lost 3.38% over seven days, sliding from $84,082 to $81,239. The low of the week was $80,029, a psychological floor that held like the last defender on a pitch where the match was lost long ago. Ether fared worse: down 4.59% on the week from $2,472 to $2,358, with a weekly low of $2,320.
For context, Bitcoin trades 35.58% below its all-time high of $126,080, and Ether sits 52.31% under $4,946.05. That is not a minor correction; that is half a marathon run in the rain with empty stands. And yet — $81,000 is a level the market could only daydream about three years ago.
Dominance as a thermostat
Bitcoin dominance stands at 60.02%, with Ether holding 10.60%. In plain terms: for every dollar in crypto, 60 cents sits in Bitcoin. That ratio works like a thermostat in practice — while it is high, altcoins only warm up in direct sunlight; when it drops, the season opens.
Notably, dominance is rising during a week when price is falling. That is the classic flight-to-quality pattern: when the sea gets rough, captains do not buy new ships, they just move the cargo onto the biggest one.
Ether and the rest of the first tier
Ether trades at $2,358.77, up 2.01% in 24 hours, with a $288.16 billion market cap and $9.52 billion of daily volume. Circulating supply is 122.17 million ETH. The numbers show liquidity concentrating in a handful of large names while the rest of the market queues at the counter.
The rest of the first tier was uniformly green: BNB at $759.76 (+2.77%, $99.92 billion cap), XRP at $1.32 (+1.70%, $83.83 billion), Solana at $102.59 (+2.57%, $60.51 billion), TRON at $0.3317 (+1.24%). Solana is 65% below its $293.31 peak, XRP 63.7% below $3.65. This is a market where everyone climbs the same staircase, just at a different pace.
Privacy is back in the top 10
The most interesting story of the day is not Bitcoin. Zcash (ZEC) trades at $1,298.29, up 3.99%, with a $22.08 billion market cap — good enough for tenth place, ahead of Dogecoin and Monero. Circulating supply is 17.01 million ZEC on $810 million of daily volume. ZEC remains 59.3% below its $3,191.93 peak, which makes this climb a march rather than a sprint.
Monero (XMR) keeps the rhythm: $605.78, up 2.11%, $11.4 billion cap, thirteenth place, 24.1% under its $797.73 high. Two coins whose main selling point is that nobody can police them landed in the same week Croatia granted its first five MiCA crypto licences. Coincidence or not, the market has apparently decided regulatory clarity and privacy can grow at the same time — like two neighbours who cannot agree on a fence but share the same wall.
The meme sector and its eternal drama
Pepe (PEPE) jumped 16.67% to $0.00000498 on a $2.09 billion cap and $620 million of volume. Dogecoin added 3.8% to $0.0801, with a $12.53 billion cap and 89.1% less than its $0.7316 peak. For Pepe that is a 8.36% weekly gain, but also 82.2% below the $0.00002803 high. Memecoins are crypto’s version of seasonal radio hits — every few months the same melody, but always somebody new singing it.
On the other side, Quack AI erased 73% in a single day, on the same day it printed an all-time high. BULLA and Akedo followed in the same direction. A reminder that in the meme sector, gravity does not respect the schedule.
Today’s losers
At the bottom of the board: VVV down 3.80% to $24.52, XDC down 3.60% to $0.0336, DASH down 2.30% to $53.55, BDX down 0.96% to $0.0736, and Quant (QNT) down 0.86% to $200.02 on a $2.91 billion cap. None of those drops qualify as a disaster — more morning fog than storm.
Bitway keeps the streak alive
Bitway (BTW) added 18.20% in 24 hours to $1.74, following yesterday’s 46% surge. The market cap is $2.61 billion, while the seven-day figure is still negative at -14.93% — which makes this a comeback rather than a breakout. Haedal and Anoma also posted double-digit gains a day earlier. Two sessions, the same script: enough to keep the story going, too little to call it a trend.
What the market watches next
Three things hold attention. First, the $80,000 line for Bitcoin: as long as it holds, the correction narrative stays a consolidation narrative. Second, the relationship between dominance and risk appetite — 60% for Bitcoin means altcoins still lack fuel for a rally of their own. Third, the regulatory calendar: Croatia’s MiCA licences open the door to institutional money in the region, and news like that usually works with a lag of several months, like medicine that only kicks in on the second day.
A $2.72 trillion market cap and $63.17 billion of daily volume say the market’s structure is healthy while its mood is neutral. A neutral mood is the long-term investor’s best friend and the adrenaline trader’s worst enemy. By the next noon, two things are certain: the numbers will change, and the stories will not.
