Bitcoin held $80,310 and a 2.39% daily gain, while Ethereum jumped 4.01% to $2,419 and took over as the engine pulling the whole train. Total market capitalization sits at $2.68 trillion with $87 billion traded in 24 hours — numbers that say one thing: the market has stopped holding its breath and started breathing hard.

Bitcoin: camp four above the clouds
Eighty thousand dollars stopped being news and became a floor. After Wednesday’s four percent jump, Bitcoin spent Thursday doing what Everest climbers do between pushes: sat down, drank tea and looked at how high the ladder actually goes. A 2.39% daily gain is not spectacle, but it matters more than spectacle — consolidation above a round number means buyers are not dumping the moment the first shadow of profit appears.
The seven-day balance is nearly flat (+0.12%), which reveals the real picture. Bitcoin is not in euphoria; it is in the phase where the market counts how much money is still on the field. Dominance climbed from 59.6% to 60.1% in 24 hours — capital is pooling toward the biggest name, like an audience drifting toward the main stage when the headliner cues the hit.
The gap to the all-time high of $126,080 is 36.3%. For anyone who only looks at fresh peaks that sounds like defeat, but the arithmetic is cold: from here to the ATH requires 57% upside. That is the distance from 100 to 157, not from 100 to 200. Most of the road has been travelled in reverse, and reverse is not the same as collapse.
Ethereum takes the baton
The second-largest coin is the most responsible for the green on the screens. Ethereum added 4.01% on $15.1 billion of volume, with a weekly gain of 4.19% — twice Bitcoin’s. The ETH/BTC ratio looks, for the first time in weeks, as if somebody remembered Ethereum still exists.
The sailing comparison is not a stretch: Bitcoin is the keel that keeps the boat upright, Ethereum is the sail that catches the wind when there is any. Thursday had wind. The open question is how much of that wind is real and how much is rotation inside the market — simultaneous gains in Bitcoin and Ethereum usually mean outside money is arriving, not that cash is shuffling from one coin into another.
Under the surface: 51.1% below the $4,946 all-time high. Ethereum is the character who was class president four years ago, now sits in the second row and still tells the best stories. A $295.6 billion market cap is still a third of Bitcoin’s.
Breadth: 298 out of 500 in the green
The best news of the day is not Bitcoin’s price, it is market breadth. When 298 of the top 500 coins rise, that is not a single-instrument pump — it is a game in which most of the roster got minutes. Not every win belongs to the star, but when the bench scores too, the locker room laughs.
The real proof that sentiment is healthy lives in the loss column: among coins with a market cap above one billion dollars, nobody lost double digits. The worst performers were WLFI (−12.16%), VVV (−10.33%) and BTW (−5.53%) — names that do not hold the market’s structure, they fill the margins of the table.
Zcash: the neighbour who turns on the light at 3 a.m.
Zcash sits at $1,319.40 with a modest +1.67% daily and +5.16% weekly move, on a $22.46 billion market cap. The privacy story stopped being nostalgic this year and became a market fact: a coin that spent years symbolising a forgotten sector now carries a bigger cap than Dogecoin and nearly a third of Solana’s.
Still, 58.7% below the all-time high of $3,191.93. This is the guy who was once the most interesting person at the party, vanished for three years, then returned with a beard and a story about the Baltics. The market listens, but it has not yet bought a round.
Hyperliquid: the one without an invitation
While nearly the entire top of the market was green, HYPE lost 4.57% to $82.42 and single-handedly erased $944 million of market value — the largest individual negative contribution of the day. Its cap stands at $19.73 billion, 15.9% below the $97.96 all-time high.
A drop on a day when everything rises carries special weight: it is that moment in a group project when everyone brings slides and one team member brings an apology. Not a catastrophe, but a signal that part of the capital is rotating out of DeFi flagships into BTC and ETH — the classic move toward “safer” addresses when the horizon blurs.
The Trump token: Icarus with concrete wings
Official Trump fell 14.68% to $1.25 and printed a new all-time low at $1.22. From the $73.43 peak on January 19, 2025, −98.3% remains. Every hundred dollars committed at the top is worth $1.70 today.
That is not a correction, it is archaeology. The token was a ticket to the biggest political event of the year, and after the event tickets usually end up on the floor of the venue. A 24.73% weekly decline on $401 million of volume shows trading continues — but the trading is exit, not entry. A $350 million market cap is all that is left of a story that looked permanent in the summer.
Sentiment: fear to neutral in one week
The Fear & Greed index climbed from 34 to 50 in 24 hours and from 26 to 50 in two days. That is the fastest mood recovery since early autumn and, frankly, the least rational part of the whole picture. Prices moved a few percent and the psychology went from “everything is dying” to “maybe it isn’t” — a well-known property of a market that reacts to headlines faster than to balance sheets.
Neutral is not nothing. Neutral is the room where nobody shouts but everybody watches the door. If Bitcoin holds $80,000 through the weekend, the door swings upward. If it loses $78,000, the same room becomes an elevator to the basement.
Yesterday’s extremes in one sentence
The previous day produced two stories worth keeping on the radar: Elsa jumped 58.78% on volume twice its market cap — always a sign of musical chairs rather than investment — while Akedo lost 37.68% and fell 98.3% from its all-time high in six weeks. Full breakdowns of both cases live in separate articles.
The wider picture: capital is not leaving, it is concentrating. Bitcoin and Ethereum receive, the middle layer survives, and the tail of the market falls away as soon as somebody closes the door. This is a market that has learned it does not pay to be a hero in a small coin while the big players are weighing anchor.
Note: data collected at 12:00 UTC from CoinGecko (top 500 coins). Prices and volumes move throughout the day. This is not investment advice — every decision to buy or sell crypto carries the risk of losing the entire amount committed, and market history is full of people who thought they had found the formula at the top.
