Zilliqa (ZIL) plunged 24.0% to $0.00252 to claim the day’s worst-loser title, while Starknet (STRK) and Berachain (BERA) shed 14.7% and 15.0% respectively. While the day’s winners celebrated on the balcony, this trio watched the stage open up beneath their feet — the classic movie scene where the hero realizes the elevator has left without him.
Zilliqa (ZIL) — a veteran that lost the beat
What is Zilliqa?
Zilliqa is one of the older layer-1 blockchains, known for being among the first to introduce sharding — splitting the network into smaller parts that process transactions in parallel. The idea was simple: if one block must handle everything, it chokes; split it into smaller ones and throughput rises. ZIL is the native token used to pay fees and take part in the network’s consensus.
Why is it falling?
A 24% drop in a single day to such a low price is almost always the result of weak interest combined with a technical breakdown. Zilliqa sits 99.0% below its high of $0.255 from May 2021, and is now only 15.2% above its all-time low of $0.00219 hit in August 2026. Turnover of $31.2 million is larger than its relatively small market cap of $49.1 million — meaning sellers were more aggressive than buyers. When a project loses its narrative from the “golden 2021 era,” the market punishes it without mercy.
Starknet (STRK) — zero-knowledge without an audience
What is Starknet?
Starknet is a layer-2 network built on Ethereum that uses zk-rollup technology — expensive computation happens off the main chain, and the result is sent to Ethereum as a compact proof. In theory: cheaper and faster transactions, with Ethereum’s security. The STRK token is used to pay fees, vote, and later take part in the network’s consensus.
Why is it falling?
STRK fell 14.7% to $0.0738, but what hurts is the context: the token sits 98.3% below its high of $4.41 from February 2024. Turnover of $167 million on a market cap of $560 million shows intense trading — but mostly in the exit direction. The layer-2 ecosystem is now oversaturated with competition, and every new airdrop and token unlock further dilutes supply. Starknet has the technology, but technology without users is like a gilded cinema screening a film to an empty hall.
Berachain (BERA) — a bear that forgot to hibernate
What is Berachain?
Berachain is an Ethereum-compatible layer-1 network known for its unusual “proof of liquidity” consensus model. Instead of validators staking only the network’s token, they stake liquidity through BEX and related protocols, with rewards rotating across three tokens: BERA, BGT and HONEY. The project drew attention by combining meme aesthetics (bears!) with an ambitious economy, but that very aesthetic often overshadowed the question of real demand.
Why is it falling?
BERA lost 15.0% to $0.1869 and now sits 98.7% below its high of $14.83 from February 2025. The token is only 35.7% above its all-time low from August 2026, which suggests even that floor is fragile. Turnover of $23.6 million on a market cap of $65.4 million means the market is actively debating the project’s future — and distrust currently prevails. A three-token game with complex incentives sounds nice on paper, but when liquidity evaporates, all that’s left is hype without backing.
